The killing of Sabir Malik, a 22-year-old ragpicker from West Bengal, took place on 27 August 2024, when he was beaten to death near Badhra in Charkhi Dadri district, Haryana, by a group of men who suspected migrant workers there of eating beef.[1][2] A forensic report later found that the meat recovered from the family's shanty was not beef.[3] Police arrested ten people, two of them minors.[3]
