Police arrested four residents of Amgara village and registered a case against them for murder and attempt to murder.[1][2] Before that, police registered a case against the two victims under the Madhya Pradesh Cow Slaughter Ban Act, 2004, and the Madhya Pradesh Agriculture Cattle Preservation Act, 1959, on the complaint of one of the four accused.[1] The families of both victims denied the slaughter allegation.[2]
